Remembrance Day; a day we take the time to truly appreciate the people who fought for the countries. My great grandfather had fought in World War 2 and I've seen the after affects of fighting in this. The physical and mental abuse that these soldiers went through was insane and November 11th is the day to take notice in that.
The assembly Cameron Heights had for this remembrance was all about refugees. I understand that they were trying to push the present problems instead of the past and the affect wars have on everyone now, but the reason we have this day is the remember the ones that had lost their life fighting for us! I get why they added that topic into the assembly but I wish it was not the whole assembly. I never got the message to remember those fallen in the war. I would prefer Remembrance Day to have its original ideas to it and this new prospective of the effects war has on us now a day evenly distributed through out the gathering in schools.
