Yesterday, my friend Erika showed me a YouTube video that left me stunned. I was not shocked by how good it was, instead I was left astonished by how idiotic someone would have to be to come up with an idea to 'prank' someone and convince them that their best friend had been murdered right in front of him. First of all the definition of a prank is "a trick of an amusing, playful, or sometimes malicious nature" but making an 18 year old boy bawl his eyes out does not seem amusing or playful to me.
How insensitive can one even be to do or even think of doing this?! I was so upset and angered by the end of the video. I ended up crying while I watched it because death hits a soft spot for most people, including me. I have lost 2 of my friends from death, but I cant imagine how hard it would be to watch them die.
Everyone has their own experiences with death and coping can be one of the hardest things someone has to go through.
I went through denial, nightmares and having to learn to live without them in my life. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that and a prank like that may have impacted him enough to possibly effect him that way. Surprisingly Colby, the one who had been pranked, did not seem too angry by this joke but i think that was because of the shock of it all. His dead friend had came back to life and hugged him, being shocked by that is understandable. If i were him i would've probably reacted the same way until i figured out what had been done to me, then i would've flipped out on the 2 boys that planned this. I don't know how Colby was okay after this because i definitively would not have been.
